Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in managing classroom activities while ensuring compliance with Florida Office of Early Learning and the goals and objectives of the current VPK curriculum
  • Build and maintain a positive, nurturing, and supportive relationship with the children and families
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of the growth and development of assigned children to inform instruction and measure progress toward goals; plan individualized curriculum to meet specific needs of children including children with disabilities
  • Arrange for children to be outdoors each and every day, for a minimum of one hour, weather permitting. The outdoor classroom is considered an extension of the learning environment. Both indoor and outdoor environments shall address curricular objectives by encouraging child-initiated, teacher-supported, active learning experiences
  • Follow health and safety procedures for hand washing, toileting, handling bodily fluids, sanitizing toys and equipment, administering medication, serving food, dealing with children's illnesses, and supervising children
  • Complete timely, neat, accurate documentation of screenings, assessments, individualized plans, attendance, feedings, daily activity logs for parents and other documentation as may be deemed necessary for providing quality services
  • Copy of Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Criminal Background screening completed in the past 5 years
  • Copy of Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background check completed within the last 5 years
  • Copy of Affidavit of Good Moral Character

Requirements

  • You Might Be the Perfect Fit if You:

    • Hold a High School Diploma or its equivalent, are able to pass a background check, and are able to complete your DCF hours within 90 Days of employment. Education in Early Childhood Education and experience within a licensed center is a big plus!
    • Genuine warmth and understanding of the needs of young children and their families
    • A positive attitude and self-image with a commitment to innovation and creativity
    • Strong communication skills with coworkers, parents, and children
    • 1-3 years of teaching experience or certification (if not, we will help you obtain certification)
    • HS Diploma or GED required
    • Must pass the state-required criminal background check
    • Must meet all state certifications and requirements
